edelbrock streetmaster 440 intake? Updated 3/11/10 with pictures
« on: December 10, 2009 - 10:47:15 PM »
I was at my uncle's house yesterday looking for a set of seats for my Nova.  We found some in an old barn, and my uncle spotted an intake.  I got it out and it was an edelbrock streetmaster 440 intake.  I have never seen one of these so I assume it is an older part, from the 70s sometime?  It is a single plane design.  It is in great condition and all it needs is a good cleaning.  Any ideas what it would be worth?  I forgot it at his house, otherwise I would have posted some pictures of it. Thanks.

I have no idea what it's worth but can tell you that I bought my Edelbrock Streetmaster 318 intake on June 5, 1980 for $168.00. Yep, it's old. A guy at a cruise in last summer commented " you don't see those old dinosaurs too often".

Okay guys, here are some pictures. I just cleaned out all the threads and scrubbed it off a little in my shop sink.  I might try my steam cleaner on it this weekend to see if I can get it clean.  It has worked well on some other intakes I've had.

The streetmaster was Edelbrock's attempt at an economy manifold for improved gas mileage long ago.  It is not a performance manifold and is intended for low rpm gas mileage.  You can see how small the ports are.  It does not flow much air because of this.

Since the ports are smaller, and if it is used on a mild engine, it would increase the air velocity to the cylinders making more torque, right?  Especially in the lower to mid range.

I've got a mint 383 Streetmaster intake that was thrown into a deal of parts I bought back in the early 80's.  I doubt I'd ever use it but who knows it might come in handy someday.  Best place to find a value for something like this is to check Ebay's completed auctions for one and see what it went for.
