Do I Need The Clutch Spring With Hydraulic Clutch?
« on: March 13, 2010 - 07:46:55 PM »
My Cuda did not have the main return spring on the clutch/brake pedal assembly when I bought my car. The car had a hydraulic clutch then, and even though I replaced the transmission, I have a hydraulic clutch now as well. I do have a new assembly (see pic below) with the spring. My question is: should I use this new assembly so that my clutch now has a spring? Or is it not necessary with a hydraulic clutch?

I didn't notice that it was even missing when I was driving my car before swapping transmissions.

it will make the pedal pressure lighter as it assits the depression of the pedal , the real problem is if you are using a diapragm or 3 finger style clutch

I'm running hyd. clutch and no spring.  I don't believe they're necessary.  Pete

Chryco - so no spring with a 3 finger Borg & Beck?  That's what I did 20 years ago when I couldn't get the spring on.

You should never run the spring with a diapham pressure plate, its optional with the borg & beck or long.

 :iagree:
use the spring with the 3 finger style clutch
not with the diaphragm

I installed the Keisler Hydraulic Clutch, it said to remove the spring.

Keisler typically sends a diaphragm clutch with their pkg
