OEM Wheel selection Factory selection order

OK back in the day lets say a 70 Cuda even though many of these rim selections were out in the late 60s on B bodies etc.

What was the order price wise and selections choices in terms of upgrades? I am curious because most times you see a cuda challenger etc with the rallye wheels and the the magnum 500s.

1 I know low end was hub cap
2 Deluxe wheel cover

Magum 500s ?3
Rallye Wheels ?4

My Cuda has the 500s on her I kinda like them, but it seems at car shows you see the rallyes more especially with hi polished rings etc. thanks guys!    :2thumbs:

I don't have any idea if the production numbers would back this up, but back in the day it 'seemed' that Plymouths more often than not came with the Rallye wheels and Dodges often came with the Magnum 500s.  Again, I have no way of knowing if this was really true or just what the local cars had and I grew up in middle Georgia so take that into consideration....

Thanks guys! I guess the other thing to clarify I am wondering is the pecking order, was the 500 wheel or the rallye the top option back in 70?

I know I seem to see more rallye wheels at car shows etc, but I thought the 500 was the top dog?  :dunno:

Thanks, it just makes me womder why you mostly see the rallyes and not the 500s, but I guess most folks like the rallyes better? Myself I like them both. Here are a few picks of my car, I still need to detail it good and add a few misc parts etc. But as it is it is pretty clean and the 340 runs out very nice too.

The 500's look sweet on your car!  They blend in well with the black shaker, black vinyl roof and black hockey stripe.  I wouldn't change a thing.  It sets your car apart from the rest.   :burnout:

Thanks! I was thinking maybe if i ever added rear disc I would need a 15" rim or stay will smaller disc if one is made for a rear with 14s like I have disc in the front. But the tires at some point need to go.

Maybe some old school looking T/As or small white letter Goodyears at some point.

Just seems most folks for what ever reason have gone with Rallyes even though they were less right. Maybe to some they look better I dont know. I am OK with what i have...
Was just mostly curious is all.

The Chrome rimed magnums were only correct for the '67 and I think '68 model year. After that, mopar switched to a brushed trim ring magnum like the rallyes.

I personally have always prefered the magnums over the rallyes, but theer is no denying that the rallyes are still very popular with a lot of owners now days.

Not to disagree but the 70 Cuda brochure list them as an option. I think in 71 they went away, there was also a Chyrsler 500 with a crome ring and a brushed ring too.

 :wave:hej ,good loking car.i think all -70 340 cudas had 15" wheels as standard.was the 500 rim made in both 14-15. :clueless:

Yep there were 14s and 15s, the 383 and 440s and of course hemis got 15s, 14s were standard on a 340 if you upgraded from the other rims, but you could get 15s too.

Magnum 500 rims were only 14" on Mopars.  Ford got a 15" version.  Rallyes were available in 14" and 15"
