I have a 73 cuda 340 with flowmasters super 44 mulffers. Im getting a new exhaust system put in,
should I put in a crossover pipe on it or is it fine without it?

Well... If you want a little more boost, an H or X pipe configuration helps. Otherwise, you don't need it. Since you mentioned flowmasters, I have a feeling you want the crossover.

I know it is different. I have the H-pipe, but I believe the X is a little more mellow, but more efficient. So I'm sure I haven't helped, have I?

you get a smoother sound with the X pipe as both pipes are fed from both sides of the engine but the X pipe will give you more power & efficiency as well
I would go with the X pipe

I went with the X pipe (magnaflow system).....and dont regret my choice.
It has a mean sounding growl at speed...At least *I* think its sounds mean. LOL
