leaky heater matrix
« on: April 10, 2010 - 05:26:36 AM »
My heater matrix seems to be leaking a little bit (glycol scented carpet).

Is it a bad job to get it out ?

not bad at all , there are 3 bolts around the heater motor in the engine bay & a J bolt inside the right side vent into the cowl , you will need to remove the glove box & then it will drop out from behind the dash , then you can disconnect the cables & wires & remove the heater box & workon taking it apart on a bench

Thanks, now you mention the J bolt I remember that from when I had the cowl in bits a few years back.

I thought at first this was one of the pipe connections that was leaking through as I could see it wet round there inside the engine bay, but I changed the pipe and the clip and it is still seeping from somewhere.  I'm thinking maybe the pipe union with the matrix is cracked or something - possibly a soldering job.
