i need help istalling my shift rods
« on: April 02, 2010 - 09:09:13 PM »
i am cnverting my challenger to a 4-speed(overdrive), and bought rods and levers from pg classics and had to do a BUNCH of modifying to the 1-2 and 3-4 rods.  now i am trying to install the reverse (curved one i assume)  and it is not even close!!!  my question is:  does the reverse rod go over the crossmember like the other 2?  does anyone have any good pics of under their car, or their rods installed?  i have read that usong an overdrive  you have to do some slight bending but :clueless:

Did you get an E body shifter?  This really helps the install since the rods are set up for the certain levers/lenghts/ and curve of the reverse lever on the shifter. The reverse rod goes under, not over the crossmember. I have heard some stories of the PG Classic shifter rods bending to easy. But for the most part, sometimes you bend the reverse rod a bit to fit, other than that, you have a hole where a pin goes through to align all the shifter levers up in neutral. Once you have it centered, then you adjust the screw levers to fit the tabs on your trans. The levers Go up

the reverse rod is under the crossmember
the levers go up except the front one which goes down , I have never had an issue with the reverse or 1-2 rods with the OD , but you do have to modify the 3-4 rod

does the end with the really big bend mount on the trans side or the shifter side?  the way it came setup was with the shift lever in the "curved" side, but it seems like it would work better if it were the other way around  :clueless:

The threaded end goes to the shifter.

the 1-2 & 3-4 rods have the adjuster end at the shifter , the reverse rod is opposite with the adjuster on the trans end
