To B or not to B ( rear diff)

I am in need of a new rear end for my Challenger and I am thinking of going with a 68 B-body rear in my Challenger for tire clearance.
What will the the narrower rear to to the Challengers handling?
Is the swap worth it?
What do you guys think?

In my opinion the swap is worth it. There won't be any neg. affects on handling and you'll be able to run a deeper dished wheel.
Go for it!

I'm doing the same thing. Bring your springs in and you can use your entire wheelwells for tires!

Can you get the re-location front hanger for stock length of springs..

I changed my front hangers. All you do is go in, not further to the back. I relocated them 1"

Dr Diff is where I buy my rear end parts, he has a relocation kit for b-body rears in e-bodies.
Great guy too.

IMO, definetly worth it . You can get massive amounts of rubber under the car with this move. On my car I've got 12" of tire and still have a couple inches of room.

The handling effect is negligible. The difference between the stock location and the 3/4-1" relocation is 5# of spring rate. So your 160# springs will now only produce 155# of force. Not enough to really notice.

Remember that there are differences in B bod rear housing widths, so factor this in when you buy rims. 65-67 rears are 1" narrower than 68-70 rears. So your rear wheel backspace will need to be either 5" for 65-67 housings, or 5.5" for 68-70 housings.

Did the 69-70 Bs in my 2 Challengers and would do it in my Cuda if I had another one.  Doing my 1st one years ago, I made my own offset shackes and front spring hangers, I show how I made the front ones in my resto thread. I ended up buying Dr. Diff's offset shackle kit.

With my setup I run the 10" rallyes and the 295-50-15s.  I get many nice comments and guys crawling underneath looking to see if I tubbed the rear.
