How to clean door hardware

Any ideas on how to clean the door and trunk hardware?  It is full of old grease and dirt.  See the pics.

The old hardened grease should go away with laquer thinner.

Carefully scrape away excess grease then use a tooth brush and solvent. Use your wife's brush not yours or your teeth will go black.   
Don't forget to relube the hardware.

I had good luck with using our Chassis Kleen http://www.eastwood.com/ew-chassis-kleen-18-oz-aerosol.html?srccode=cuda some brake caliper carriers I cleaned for powder coating recently. My parts were COVERED in road grime and grease, didn't really even have to brush off

 Just a coupe of days ago I was resurrecting a 40 year old belt sander that had not worked in 10+years...grease was caked up & would not turn, Sprayed with PB Blaster penetrating lube... grease became soft in a few minutes & I was sanding inside a half hour.

I just cleaned mine up a few weeks ago and soaking in lacquer thinner is the trick. Just be careful what kinds of rubber or plastic you put in and these will soften or melt away if left too long. Good luck!
