Ticking sound on Number 8 spark plug ?
« on: November 08, 2011 - 12:24:27 AM »

I started up my car this weekend. But I get a ticking sound on #8 plug when it's on idle under 1000 rpm and goes away if I idle above the 1000 rpm. I tried adjusting the timing but get the same thing. Any chance it could be grounding of the engine or a short.
BTW I have a stock  Electronic ignition.
Thanks

Not that I would know but what about an exhaust manifold leak?  I heard some people mention it's like a ticking sound sometimes.  :clueless:

I have checked the manifold and also the flange and it doesnt leak. I also disconnected and the wire going to #8 and it goes away.  So I used a spare wire and still have the ticking noise at idle.  :clueless:

cracked porcelain on the plug. Voltage is going
through the crack to the head and grounding.   :2cents:
If I cant fix it, it's broke
