B/E body 4 speed (updated 4/11/2010)
« on: April 06, 2010 - 08:18:40 PM »
What is a fair price for a rebuilt 4 speed that has never been run.

I have a chance to buy one and have seen them for sale from $200 to $1000....... :dunno:

Thanks

it would depend on what rebuilt means , if it is just new seals the cost would be minimal but if you replaced all the gears , syncros & shift forks you could spend close to 2k just on parts

hate to be a cynical minded type , if  it can't be proven to be rebuilt  and road tested consider it an unproven unit 250 tops and 400 for a Hemi spline ......

I am cynical as well..... :grinyes:  So, i do not just take someones word for it.  No written proof, or me seeing that it is being rebuilt, that it just your words.

Considering ANY Chrysler 4-speed here goes for well over $500.00, let alone "Rebuilt", it would sell here, but might not elsewhere..This is why you have the price difference...

Allright I bought the 4 speed and picked it up this weekend.

it is a 23 spline and appears to be out of a B-Body...69 I think.

Any help here?  you can see the number in the pictures.

It was rebuilt and never ran, very clean on the inside... :woohoo:

Is that plugs on back where the ebody shift plate would be?  Or drilled holes there?   It isn't a 69.  The tailshaft looks like OD trans or 72 trans, but the forks seem different .  What size bearing container, and can we see the whole snout?

"Is that plugs on back where the ebody shift plate would be?  Yep it hasn't been drilled out or taped yet."

"What size bearing container?" it looks like a 4.35

odd trans for sure but likely a small block 70 from a B body , the side cover & forks are early as is the case with the small brg retainer , it is odd to see the rear shifter mount not drilled

Doesn't the VIN start with "9G"?  That should mean it's from a 69 B body..... right?
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

After all these years chances are that somebody has mixed up housing parts. You will have to make sure the throw out bearing carrier is the right size also.
