Fender and firewall fasteners

Upon repainting the engine bay to the original appearance, should the fender bolts be painted body color or are they left "natural"?  I have seen these bolts come in both black phosphate and cadmium plated; makes me wonder what's correct.   :clueless:  Hood hindge bolt too.
 
Also what about fasteners for items that are attached to the firewall; mainly those that mount to the inside but have stud/nuts, or through bolts on the engine bay side?  I know the fasteners that directly anchor to the item or "bracket" are probably natural, but I wonder about those that anchor to the sheet metal.

The fenders, hood and hinges were all bolted to the car and adjusted before paint.  All those fasteners would be body color.  Most firewall bolts were clear zinc plated.  If you list the specific fasteners your wondering about, I can look them up for you.
