70 Cuda Power Steering Pressure Hose help
« on: April 08, 2010 - 09:16:14 PM »
Ok I  have gone to a local auto parts, had 2 hoses shipped from Rock Auto one for a Saginaw pump, and one for a Chrysler pump both are not correct and the local parts store books do not match either. :dunno:

PS Mine is a Saginaw pump.

The line I have is a 5/8 wrench size flared 3/8 fitting that screws into the rear of the pump hosing bottom of the tank.

The other end of the line steps down to 5/16" (all the wrong lines step down too) and the wrench size is 9/16 and it is a male fiting as well and screws straight into the gear box at the top,.

All the lins I was sent, and the parts store books show a line that has a male and a female fitting and the male 3/8 ends are not bent even close to fitting my car to make it to the rear of the pump.

Anyone run into to this or know what line part # I need to make this work?  I would need to jury rig any of these lines and add a fitting into the gear box to go female to male.

Mine looks factory stock and the line screws just direct male end into the box. My other Mopars are like that too.

Car is a 70 Cuda 340, PS, AC, PB car. thanks! :)
Dave

I'm in the same boat! I am missing the fitting that screws into the presure port on the steering box. Although it looks weird the line I got will work if I can find a stock fitting?
Look here although the price is nuts, this is what we need

Thanks Brad! Looks like this would do the trick and make the female line connect to the box.

What is strange is that m curent line screws straight into the box and I have a saginaw pump. So how can I find the same line as I have now so I do not need the adapter?

On a side note I have a 64 dart with a 416 stroker 340 and tti headers, I contaced firmfeel and there was an earlt adapter called a HEMI fitting that comes out in a 90 to clear the headers for me as it did on many hemi cars.

Maybe I should call them and they may know what is up with the line?

Only other thing I can think of is that somewhere along the line all the saginaw lines went from male male to male female fittings, and that adapter you showed me may work, I will however have to route the line diff to he back of he pump from they way the curren line connects.

Do you have a picture of your car? I can snap some pics and post them on the board/

again thanks so muc for the help...

OK one more Note, the folks at bouchillon performance make a line that is a universal line that is male/ female and then this fitting is the ticket.

Again the line they make looks very similar to mine but mine is male/male and goes intot the pump and the box directly. I am sure what they have will work, but sure would like to know how I can just get the line I have now? Well if you or any one else has more info please post.

I am going to call bouchillon  in the AM to see what they say too...

take care :)

OK I got the adapater from Bouchillon and it worked with the saginaw hose, i did have to bent the metal part of the hose some it was on the short side with the prebent angle.

However, JUST an FYI here is what my car had on it and even the folks at Bouchillon told me the part adapter was missing, not so...
