Lug Nut Stud Engagement
« on: April 13, 2010 - 12:22:26 PM »
I just put on a set of new rear wheels that have a different offset.  This has resulted in less of the wheel stud being exposed, only about 1/2".  Looking at it, my first thought is there is not enough stud there but I am able to get 9 full turns of the lug nut before it bottoms out, and thats before fully tightening it with a wrench.  Is this adequate?

9 full turnsshould be enough
I think the rule of thumb for a street car is at least as much depth as width of the stud.
