Personally I always lean towards nature.

A couple of hours to the south, Pikes Peak. Not particularly impressive in my opinion, but it's interesting to see what the people who do the uphill are racing in.

A couple of hours to the north, Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful place, not up to Yellowstone or Yosemite standards, but much better than a sharp stick in the eye...or a city  Now is probably the time of year to catch meadows full of wildflowers.

:2thumbs: There are a lot of sights around the Springs, Red Rock Park, the Air Force Acadamy, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, of course Pikes Peak and numerous other mountain roads and abandoned gold mines to explore. And further south there is Royal Gorge, a 1000 ft "crevice" carved by the Colorado River. What is unigue about this spot is the land is basically flat then there is the gorge. And people sights and spots, not so much. The Springs are quite conservative, however there was a rather "hippy culture" that hung around in a little area west of town, of course that was back some 30-35 years ago. Also this is spring and when I lived out there we could get some of the most snowfall in the spring time, of course the mountains will have more. I remember one morning about this time of year, mild spring temps. the dark clounds started to roll over Pikes Peak and the thunder and lightning started and we got about two inches of wet heavy snow, beautiful and weird at the same time.

The  "hippies"  were up in Manitou Springs.    Not so much now but still a few around.
Definitely prefer nature.  I was turkey hunting last weekend as well as dirt biking. Nice and muddy up here in the mountains.  The runoff is just beginning.
The Royal Gorge is carved by the Arkansas river by the way.  That is quite the gorge.
I live just up stream from the gorge.
Garden of the Gods is worth a trip from Denver but not so much in the night time.
Unfortunately, Denver is kind of out in a field so there isn't alot of things to see.
I used to find arrowheads  in cherry creek that runs right through town.

Dang! Too bad I'm booked or I'd ask if I could crash the party. I'm going to pick up and deliver a  '48 Plymouth and look at a '72 Challenger Saturday morning.

Where are you delivering to?  I am going to Lamar on Sunday to save a 70 firebird.
Not a mopar but I am a sucker for pontiacs.  Next time maybe.  I make it to the springs once a month or so.  We should get together sometime.
Thanks for the offer... If my first meeting on saturday wasn't at 8 AM I'd hook up with you guys! It be good to meet some more members!

I thought I would mention it just in case.

Its all in town. I'm picking up downtown and taking it down south and unloading, but we do have to do some digging to get it out and then re-organize some things for the drop off. After that, I'm heading to stash of old cars to chekc out the Challenger, also in town. Its not much more than a shell, but if the price is right... The place I'm going to look at this specializes in old cars and they have becoup lots of stuff they are clearing out. I'll see if I can find a list or web site for them incase anyone else wants to browse. they are a bit light on mopar stuff, but they do have some things.

Yeah, if you make it up here once a month, maybe we could get a few of us to all meet up sometime.

Cuda Hunter, You know of Manitou Springs? Your a bit young, any hippies still there are "old" hippies   :smilielol:   But it was a spot "off the beaten path" as far as acceptance around there during those years. I thought you lived up around Boulder, the hottie city of Co. Speaking of Boulder, I read that the city council alows topless gardeners  :roflsmiley: Some gal seems to like to do her gardening in a thong and tennis shoes. The community tried to get an ordinance passed but council shot it down, said it was OK for her to continue.  :dunno:

BTW Cuda Hunter, do you go on down to the sand dunes to do some riding?

I actually live up in Salida, about 2.5 hours away from Denver.
I make it to the big cities a few times a month.
Manitou isn't so much off the beaten path anymore.

The Sand Dunes have been turned into a National Monument so there is no riding in the area.  I do go there to occasionally arrowhead hunt though.
Lots of riding all around the Dunes.  Hunting also.

HP, wouldn't mind meeting up some time with several members from Colorado.
I am interested in what place is selling their stuff.
Good luck on the shell.  I am curious to know how that goes.

I am unfamiliar with the double arch gathering.  Where is that?
You must be speaking of Amica's fire cooked pizza's and more.
That place is great.
Totally understand not coming way up here.
Probably the middle meeting place is Colorado Springs but I am find with whatever.
Living out here, I seem to drive all the time.

Well, it is just a shell. They want $800, and it may only be worth 2-3 hundred tops. Core support and front rails were cut off just in front of k-frame mount. Rear frame and trunk floor is gone, no doors, no hood, no trunk, no fenders, floor pan has various numbers of holes, quarters have some rot in them, no electrical, no plumbing.

It is the basic unibody of roof, floor, and quarters without most the good structural parts that go along with that missing. I was hoping to have all least all the sub-frame parts, but it doesn't.

Anybody that wants to see it or their other stock, http://pikespeakmotors.com/ Unfortuantly, they have way more cars than they are showing on their site. This place is probably five acres of cars all stuffed together with only a few on their web site. They have stuff from the 20s to now in the back lot that they are not advertising. A few things I did notice, several 60s era Dodge trucks, a 63 Plymouth 4 dr, 74 Javelin, a few 50 era chryslers, boat loads of rod material, and a very large stash of 50s era GMs.

It would be cool if a few of us could met up for something sometime. There is a casual car show here in town every saturday night in front of the K-Mart on Fillmore/Nevada.

Well I made it back from Denver, although as it turns out I was in Englewood. A long way from the airport thats for sure. Made it to my hotel about 10:30 friday nite. Didnt do squat! Nothing close by and convient to do. Hit the confrence the next morning. Overall a very good gig, wont delve into it too much tho... unless your in the business it wont mean much. As the day progressed I found out that the people  who were doing the hosting "reservered" the watering hole in the hotel. Intrestingly I was warned not to hang out with any of our Canadian or Aussie bretheren .... unless I was sure I could post bail!!  :roflsmiley: He!! I grew up in beer city... 'nuff said! I found out on saturday the bar tab was $8,976...  :22yikes: but only ranked #2 for biggest tab there.  :faint: Anyway late saturday afternoon I programmed Bandimere into the Garmin and took a ride . Nothing but go-karts going on at the track... no big thing as far as I knew about so went up the road there to some little historical town that looked nice. Seemed like a nice place, small tho so it didnt take long.  So then I programmed Central City (Center City??) and took a ride. GREAT VIEWS!! It was worth the ride just to look around. The area was just beautiful. Believe it or not didn't hit any of the casinos tho, the odds just didnt look good to me. Then I headed downtown, had a brew or 2 and headed back to Englewood. Not terribly exciting but some real pretty country there. I did not see any MOPES at all! A pos 68 stang and a wanna be 69 shovell.  :woo:  :roflsmiley: Was up at 5 AM to get back home......
