Got a grille, now a question for headlights
« on: April 19, 2010 - 03:32:01 AM »
When I got my 72 cuda the guy wanted to convert it to a 70 front end. That being said I never got 72 fenders with it, they are 70's and in need of replacing anyways. My question is, now that I have found a 72 grille and there is no concern for me having to convert it, will the headlight buckets on the 70 fenders work for the 72 headlights. I figured since they are both single headlight mounts it should work........but figured I'd ask you guys first before I go and screw something up lol.

The marker lights will be different though.  Maybe you can find some one who would be willing to trade you.

I have never tried to mount a 70 grille into a 72 fender to see if the heaqdlight was positioned the same but you are saying you have the opposite with a 70 fender & a 72 grille correct?

Yes. I have a 72 grille and 70 fenders. I am planning on replacing the fenders with 72 fenders so they will be the correct year.

So on the 1970 fenders that I do have at the moment, it has the 1970 headlight buckets on it. So if I order new 72 fenders I assume they won't come with headlight buckets. So basically I want to take the 1970 headlight buckets, put them on 72 fenders and hopefully run 72 headlights in them. I am just curious if that should work out?

If the new fenders have the headlight buckets in them that would be awesome. But I never see it in the pictures offered lol. As for the 70 fenders........they are not toast exactly, but have a lot of bondo near the front of the fender where the headlight would be, and I am not a body guy so there is nothing I can do about it. I will most likely scrap them. Unless someone on here wants them on the cheap....like $20 a piece plus shipping or something like that.

The headlight buckets for a '70 are not in the same place on a '72.  They are farther apart on a '70.

Shipping fenders is no fun.  What part of the country are you located?

I could always use more fenders.  Do you ever get down to Phoenix?

Very rarely do I head out to arizona at all, and when I do I usually just skip across the corner and head into california.
