need some quick info on installing edelbrock intake gaskets

What is the best way to install these edelbrock intake gaskets?  They have rubber nitrile rings around the ports on one side of the gasket, none on the other. The instructions dont say anything as far as what side goes to the head....

The instructions say to use RTV at the ends (1/4" bead), making sure to overlap the gasket corners and a thin film around the water jacket openings on the intake manifold side only.

They say to use "Gasgacinch" on the gaskets to hold them in place during assembly....I don't have any of that...I have  tube of Hylomar HPF...could I use that and if so how much? 

Or should I find the gasgacinch stuff?  The instructions say to coat the intake manifold mounting surface and the head side of the gasket with the stuff......

Gasgacinch is Aviation sealer. Permatex makes it. Comes in a small bottle with a brush. Very tacky brown goo. Works good too. Ultra permatex is good for the end rails. Just make sure you do overlap the gasket just a little bit. You wanna make sure there is no gap at that joint. And if the directions don't say anything bout which side goes down then it probably doesn't matter much.

I always seen pictures were the rings face the intake manifold. You use no sealer on that side and can even reuse the gaskets. Why you seal them to the head.

I like Fel-Pro ones with a steel shim in between. Those can be re-used over and over without cracking.

I ended up calling edelbrock and they said no need to use the gasgacinch really ..."we put that on there for the stupid people".....LOL...not sure what that means......ANyways....he said just use some black RTV around the water ports and on a couple other spots to hold the gasket in place.....black rings up towards the intake.

I used a thin film on both sides...put it directly on the intake and on the head.

Guess we'll see if she leaks.

One area I was concerned about are the end seals....I used a big bead there, on each end and I didnt see the RTV come squiching out like I thought I would......but my bead was at least as thick if not thicker than the foam that came out, and that was barely holding on from what I can tell.....I added a bit more once the intake was in place at the front and smoothed it out by hand ....checked the rear and felt a little had squiched out after tightening the bolts so I hope its sealed OK.

That is cause there are better stuff than gasgacinch, lol.

I buy something for small airplanes since it doesn't have to meet the epa standards. Same with wax--even the epa now has changed the vapors car wax can give off. So I buy airplane wax!
