tactransman is correct, when you fire her up but the gear selector in N abd the pump will fill the convertor, when you get close to full ( I like to have the rear wheels of the ground and car blocked or lifted on all 4s ) I run from R 1st with foot on brake, then at an idle put it in low, with no load most times it will accell to 2nd and then 3rd since there is little to no restiction load etc. This is done to verify all gears are working, Make sure that you dont go like 50+ on the rear wheels, no need to and not way safe right. Then brake good to make sure tires stop spinning, place back in N and check fluid again after car is sitting on level ground. Dont over fill.
If all looks great go for a drive after you are all good then retest after hot. Most times you get like 1.2 pint or so expansion with heat? Better 1/2 low than 1/2 to high.
