Speedometer jumps going into 2nd...
« on: June 27, 2010 - 06:12:11 PM »
Like the title states, when I'm wot and shifting from first to second the speedo jumps from 40->55ish then stabilizes.  It's a 904 tranny and shifts hard when into the peddle....  I don't know the extent of how "built" it is....  Is this something that can be fixed easily? Thanks in advance.

Possibly?? lol  I just put some fresh radial TA's on her and she still chirps second even mid throttle..... Not sure if anything is wrong at all and maybe this normal operation.  The car is a month old/new to me...my first mopar was a completely stock 73 charger, 318/tranny and I don't remember it doing this.....

I realize it's nothing major and curious if this is a problem and fixable....

Could you be loosing traction at WOT....that would explain the speedo behavior.

I should clarify, the needle jumps 10-15 mph and then drops about 5-10 or so.....

Well when you loose traction the rear tires spin faster than you are going reflected by the speedo, when they catch they are going the speed of the car & it settles back.

Yes, I do realize this, I just thought it would be more subtle as my truck doesn't jump like this when spinning.... I guess it's par for the course considering the trans/engine set up....  Thanks for the info/feedback!
