Rear Valence brackets
« on: April 30, 2010 - 01:59:45 PM »
Are these brackets different between the non dual exhaust vs. the dual exhaust one's?

My brackets are at least an inch away from meeting the top of the valence. The P/S  quarter panel is OEM so it can't be the way the quarter panel is on affecting the way the valence is positioned.

may be the overall shape of the valance.  an inch is pretty much, but they fit like crap when the curve is a tad off... I used the original valance and qrts and I had to hit the brackets inbetween  :dunno:

I still have my OEM one to try on and compare it against the repro one. I'll try that next. So far I haven't been very happy with the way it ajoins to the quarters.

My repo valance fit the same way.I had to drill new holes for the d/s bracket to move it over some.Test fit the bumper and bumperettes and the bumper should cover that gap.On mine the bumper fits about a 1/16th to  1/8th above the valance and I cannot see the bracket sticking out.

Mike,

There are two different style brackets.  The long brackets that attach to the top and bottom of the rear valance are for 1970 cuda only.  The short bracket version is for 71-74 cuda parts.

The picture you show in the first post has a set of reproduction quarter skins and a Sherman rear valance.  The brackets I had (OEM from my car) lined up nicely with the rear valance on my car.  I did have to push the valance up to the brackets slightly, but it wasn't like anything was in a bind or anything.  The valance has a tendancy to swag away from the rear crossmember because it is so long.  Can you push it up slightly to bolt up with the brackets, or are the valance hole locations off to the left or right?

Hope this helps...

I ran out of time yesterday to play with it. After studying it more, I think I can get it to go up to the screw holes. The rotisserie extentions are interferring with moving it.

I'm missing the clips and the screws for it where it bolts onto those brackets.
