Battery J Bolts

Can someone tell me how long the j bolts are supposed to be for the battery hold down? I have some 8" bolts, but they seem too short. I think that my battery might be too big.

I bought these at the Nat's last year and haven't put them on because I thought they might be TOO long. I still have the old threaded rod homemade fix on the car from years ago. Anyway, the short one looks to be 7 1/8 from the INSIDE of the "J" and the long one is about 8 3/4 from the same spot.
