This little 340 is getting up to a stroker price wise--but all forged parts.

$1,400 for machine work.

Bore and hone $140

Install cam bearings $45
Freeze plugs $25

Aligin hone $85

Balance $200

Re do rods $120

They want $350 for their 340 steel crank-.010 under ready to drop in.

Assemble $350

Then I need parts too!

Looks like good prices. Do they guarantee the assembly?

Didn't ask but they are a local shop--guys seem the type to stand behind their work. Busy little place.

Seen Scat storker kits from Summit in the drop off area. They do work for the local tracks. On speedtalk someone posted they been doing good since they open in 2000.

Its just like the $45 I went with magfluxing--no problems-money "wasted".

Woundering if I should just reuse the rods, etc.

Now if I cheap out, no they might not stand behind their work 100%, it depend.

I got a quote of $1500 to take my old 340 block, crank and rods and supply me with all the parts and machining for a balanced short block ready to assemble.  Pistons and cam included.

Its out--I yank the stuff out around noon today dis assembly (means stuff gets thrown in a box with no marks or care) Mag and clean (but only the block and heads-for get anything else) $230..

Screw them, oh one bolt for the water pump on the top side is snap off--its open in the block side, why didn't they spray some oil and use some heat if needed instead of just snaping it off. All rods were apart rod bolts all out...like its going to be re-sized even if not needed.

I got screw going there--I know it but at least I got out before the bill was $2,000. Not even sure how great the work would have been.

There is too much to get in to But like when I called the shop the first time looking for a steel 340 crank the guy goes "how much is too much" I go "$300, maybe $200) guy goes telling me then that yeah we got one, .010 under. So yesterday they go asking $400-$500 for the crank. Should had yank it out right then, least I maned up the next day, lol.
