Need help ! Clutch switch for 70 Cuda
« on: May 15, 2010 - 07:18:54 PM »
Delco-Remy Clutch switch (70 cuda 440 4 speed).  Clutch switch that connects to the clutch pedal, so the car will start as the clutch is engaged.  Part #  2947858.  (Not even sure if this part is stock or not).

The spade terminal broke off flush with the back of the switch, so I can't seem to even solder the wire back to it.  Any ideas as to where I might find one of these ?

I would scrape whatever is left with a razor blade or x-acto knife to get it as clean as possible, then try the solder deal again using a freshly stripped and tinned wire. Once you get it to stay, wire tie it to the switch or glue it down so it doesn't move everytime you unplug it.

Nice switch assembly , but for $360.00, I would put a push button switch under the dash if your worrying about starting it in gear..

I mounted one on my Cuda for $8.00. I found an original used but good condition one at a sway meet later for $35.00.

OK.  Well, I did manage to get it started by just grounding the green wire to a dash bolt.  It isn't exactly original, but at least it starts now......

Guess I'll wory about coming up with the $$$ for a new or used one later.  Man, I can't believe those things are that expensive......  I do enjoy being different, but at that cost ? That's exactly why all my chevy loving friends can't understand why I drive a mopar.

Anyways, thanks for the tips and advice guys.
