71 Challenger Pricing
« on: July 07, 2010 - 11:16:35 PM »
Been looking for a Cuda project lately but I found a 71 Challenger for $7,500. Car is pretty much all there but has some rust in the doors and the rockers. Needs complete restoration. No motor or trans. Originally a 318 car. Is that price reasonable ??

Thanks

Personally I think that is a bit high in this market. I'm building a 71 Challenger right now. Be aware that many items are 71 only and hard to get, expensive and not reproduced. Items like the grill, head light bezels, tail light assemblies, side scoops (original ones), etc. There were less 71's produced than 70's so less availability on some of the items.

Any pictures?

I would have to agree.  With the information given, 7500 is a little high.
The fender tag information could make the car worth that amount though.
What is the fender tag readout? Does it have a build sheet?

Unless we are just talking about simple surface rust, I agree with the others here. That's a little high for a car with no engine or tranny.

I paid 7k for mine a little over a year ago.  It had ther quarters replaced but had been mini tubbed and took me alot more $ to get it back stock.  I think I paid to much but I have a nice rust free car now.  It is almost finished, but I've been saying that for months now.  Here is what my wife said when I talked to her abvout the price and boy did it ring true.  If you don't buy it you will be sick you let it get away, if you do buy it you will be sick, so buy it and you can be sick but you will still have the car you want.  So I did.  I would try to get him down a bit as I did, the guy originaly wanted 8500.  Good luck and if it is meant to be it will.  Danny
