Complete vehicle rewire + MSD 6AL/coil = No Spark
« on: June 03, 2010 - 10:34:54 PM »
Got the EZ Wiring harness installed in my 1970 Cuda.  Lights, blinkers, power at run, engine cranking all work, but Im not getting any spark at the plugs.

I've got the MSD connected to battery power using the big red and black wires, I've got juice at the coil at run and crank, small red MSD wire hooked to switched source (~10.5 at run and ~7.5 at crank), mag pick-up spliced to the factory connector, but I'm not getting spark :clueless: (my autometer tach does not "jump" during crank either...needle just stays still)

I verified that the distributor rotor is turning when the engine cranks.  Is there a way to check if the distributor mag pick-up is working correctly via volt meter?  How do I verify it is working propperly?

The EZ harness does have a pink "coil pos" wire that is connected, but not sure if I need it since I'm running MSD.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

you need to connect the little red wire to straight switched 12v's not resistor it probably isn't getting a good enough signal to fire.

you need to have the small red wire connected to both the switch 12v power source |& the 12v power while cranking usually a brown wire in the factory harness

The pink "coil pos" wire in the EZ wiring harness is the switched 12V source for the MSD.  Had it hooked up to the coil.  Rewired it to the MSD, verified that the MSD works and...Houston, we have ignition!!!
