Look cry baby, I was referring to a specific post that went hay wire once. I am just looking out for a few people that could take offense. Let me know when you need help finding the dipstick on your 318.
Well, if you dont mind my saying, that was uncalled for wally, unless you were tongue-in-cheek in that post.
That other thread aside, he said "retard" in a way different context than an offensive one IMHO. Note I complimented you on trying to look out for folks, but in reality, if someone reads his original post in its full context and is somehow offended, then THEY are the "crybaby". I am not worried about "those" people. They will be offended no matter WHAT word is used.....retard, idiot, moron, dumb****, @ssbag, dipsh!t, etc.
Like I said, I feel political correctness is a bunch of BS. It makes people feel guilty for having an opinion and restricts what we can say or do for the sake of someone else's sensitivities, whether they are overinflated or not. W all in general need to grow a thicker skin and stop being "crybabies" when someone says something we dont like.
The old addage "sticks and stones" works here IMHO.
If he had said "the mechanic who did this must have been a mentally handicapped person" or "that mechanic must have had down;s syndrome", I can see THAT being offensive to someone because then it is talking about a specific group of challenged folks and attacks that handicap "personally".
But "retard", in the context he used it, describes a person who is stupid, idiotic, doing something that defies logic, etc.
Truth be told, in my opinion and respectfully, there was no drama (referring to your emoticon) til you tried to correct him for using the word "retard".
Threads like this dont go "haywire" until someone calls attention to the "offense" and the back-and-forth pissing match starts.....
... We are all friends here....no reason to get personal with the namecalling or jumping on people for using words that you may have an issue with unless it is a really bad offiense.....which, IMHO, his wasnt.
