Hemi 4 Speed?

Would the 4 speed out of a 69 Hemi Road Runner be they same type that would go into a 71 Cuda?

No, the tailshaft is different.  You could install the tailshaft from a non-hemi e-body or truck trans though (The rest would work).

So am I reading correct that the only difference from a Hemi to a regular 833 is the input shaft? Is the shaft itself the same diameter and just has less splines.

I guess what I am asking is their any reason that a 23 spline 833 would not hold up behind a hemi? It isn't an original hemi car so I am not really set on having to have a Hemi 4 Speed if a standard one will do and be as stong for cheaper. Can you get the correct clutch to hold up with the 23 spline?

The angle the gear teeth are cut at is less in the Hemi box, this is what makes it stronger (and more gear whine).

Many a 23 spline has lived behind a 440 with slicks for a long time, my hemi and 440  have 23 splines now.

Hemi 4 speeds have a bigger OD dia. support bearing in the tailshaft than the 23 spline.
