Pilot Bushing or Bearing?

Does anyone know of place that sells real bronze pilot bushings? I've tried 4 now and they are all 99% steel.  I'm a little unsure about the pilot bearing upgrade on my unmodified 440 and 833 stock input shaft it just seems too easy.

 What's the best option?

Did you try Mopar for the bushing ?
I am sure the part store one would be fine as well

No I haven't tried mopar, but all the others were like steel pipe a magnet wouldn't let go. I'm told to stay away from any pilot a magnet wants to latch on good to, I'm not sure.

I haven't used a bushing in 10 years, the bearings work great.

So you just leave the bushing out and put the bearing in the hole where the converter would go? no modifications needed?  seems nothing is ever that easy.

The ones I find local are all needle bearings, I thought they should be a roller? the nearest Dodge dealer is 150 miles away so maybe I'll have to order one.

Needle bearings is what it is...roller bearing. That is what they are talking about.  I put a roller (needle) bearing in my last engine that was in my Barracuda, this time I went with the bushing. The roller is a simple install tho. I just had 4 bushing in my tool box. I installed one in Sleepychallengers car, one in my new engine and have a couple left.

Dorman #   690-005    .753 x.940 x .880  clutch pilot bushing  Thats what it says on the box

:wave:im not sure but you might have to cut of your input shaft? a bit ,to make it work with a bearing.
