Decoded my fender tag
« on: June 22, 2010 - 08:39:54 AM »
I found a little program online to decode fender tags, so I decided to see if it worked.
It seemed to work pretty well, but it crashed shortly after I ran it, so I had to re-enter stuff again.

I didn't know the car started life as an auto, but at least it has a 4 speed now. The paint didn't decode, and that car has so many coats of paint on it that it's hard to figure out which one is the bottom, I thought it was dark red. I have no plans to rebuild it to stock, so the paint's going to be Lime Light or Green Go anyway and the vinyl roof is going in the garbage as soon as I have a welder to fix a few nasty bits around the drip rails. I was going to redo it the same as it is now as an AAR tribute, but I'm really leaning towards billboards now

After a little more scrubbing with a wire brush the paint code turned out to be GB5 True Blue Metallic, not CB5.

H23 must be a typo (maybe N23?)

It could be. The rivet for the tag is going through the letter so all I saw was l l
