Life bit me in the butt
« on: June 24, 2010 - 08:14:00 AM »
So I had the money for a new Performer intake and Edelbrock 4 bbl along with fresh bolts, thermostat etc. Walked through the garage to the Charger to run to the parts store and order the stuff and pick up a few other things I needed and I noticed a little water running out of one of the drains on my house. I have a 600 gallon cistern and a solar water heater on my roof, so I know it's going to be one of those that's leaking. The cistern shut off valve sticks every once in a while, so I figure that's the problem. I climb onto the roof and notice water dripping from the hot water tank so I take a closer look and yeah, it's leaking. I called the local solar guys and they come out to take a look and tell me that the tank is shot and I need to replace it. $800 dollars later I have a new water tank but no new carb and intake. In the evening a guy stops in front of my house and asks if he can take a look at the Cuda and we start talking about the carb being dead now. He goes to his trunk and takes out a Holley 2bbl and says I can have it. It's not a 4bbl, but it's bigger than the 2bbl that's on it now. It will be going on today, and I hope to have the car moving by the weekend unless more gremlins come out to play.

Wait, some random dude stopped in front of your hour and gave you a carb?  Why doesn't that stuff happen to me?

Sucks about the water heater but definitely good luck with the carb.

That's too bad about the emergency home repairs. At least you got a visit from "The Carburetor Fairy"!  :angelwings:
I'm hoping for the "Rotesserie Fairy" to show up at my place. I know I need to build one, but I'd rather spend that money on car parts!  :money:

I thought I saw the Hemi fairy this morning, but it was the garbage man. I think my wife was more  disappointed that I wasn't getting the 4bbl than I was. The car starts and runs a lot better now with the new carb although it has a couple of little vacuum leaks at the gaskets so I'll have to grab a kit.
The muscle car crowd in PR is pretty small and people are really sociable, so if they see a car in a driveway or garage they stop to chat.

Your garbage man drives a Hemi truck  :faint:  :poopoke:

Sounds like good timing 1 day later and you wouldt have had the cash to fix your leak and then BAM you are reworded for doing what was right with a free part... :thinkerg: IF I WERE YOU I WOULD GO PLAY THE LOTTERY ASAP!
