heater core removal advice needed AC car
« on: June 27, 2010 - 02:22:57 PM »
Saturday after a local car show I decided I needed to show how well my convertable would accelerate  :burnout:

All was going well until the heater core bursted all over the interior.   :puke:

My question is after I disconnect all the hoses and stuff and removing the  glove box will it drop out from under the dash?

Would it be easier to pull the dash?

any suggestions?

Do they sale new heater cores for these things?

Thanks

Oh man, I dread this situation as I know I still have the original in there.   :22yikes:

I'm no expert since I haven't gone thru this (yet), but the heater cores are about $50. They are different depending if an original A.C., or non A.C. car. Yes, the glove box liner needs to come out. This heater core swap can be done without removing the dash, but it doesn't look like fun. This is where others will have to advise you of the process.    :sadwavey:

Barry,

  Got anything for removing the stink from the carpeting?   :lol:

I don't mean to joke, but I see this happening in my crystal ball. I thought about the heater hose bypass thing...  I just think my engine bay would look kinda funky. Besides, I don't need two more unused hose connections on my firewall, since the A.C was already removed. I guess I need to do this swap just to be pro-active.    :bricks1:

Gasoline works great for that Mike, 3 easy steps;

1. Remove carpet from car & move to a well ventilated area away from anything combustible.

2. Soak carpet with gasoline.

3. Light match & throw it at carpet.

The smell should be gone in 15 minutes or so.
