Power Brake Booster Removal
« on: July 11, 2010 - 09:12:08 PM »
Ok guys be kind remember I have been restoring chevys for 25 years and now I am on my first mopar (71 Challenger Convertible).  the engineering is very different in some cases.

Anyway the way a chevy power brake booster is installed is totally different and before I screw anything up can you guys tell me the proper way to remove it?  Anything I should look for or be on the look out for? It looks like it's attached to the brake on the inside firewall.

I appreciate everyones help.

Dave

Unbolt it from the pedal, then pull the pin that that hinges that part to the rest of the linkage and the pedal frame. Then the 4 nuts that hold the booster to the firewall.  Not too bad once you get under there.   The hardest part is getting to those 4 nuts for the booster.  Use a long extension and a deep socket to get those off.

You're welcome.  Grease up all the little hinge parts and put that little dog bone looking thing back on the booster before sticking it back through the firewall hole. Then it will be just like when you took it out.
