main fuel line problem
« on: June 27, 2010 - 05:33:18 PM »
hi, i have a 72 cuda .the car was off the road for a long time. i have tried to flush out the main line that goes from the gas tank to fuel pump. i have had air blowing through it as  well as gas. when i re installed it ,the glass fuel filter picked up a lot of dirt/rust.i cleaned filter and now i get no gas to filter. i dont know if line somehow got clogged or fuel pump got clogged. i am thinking of bying a repo fuel line. does anyone know who carries a good quality line. thanks

I have to think the problem is in the back. Your gas tank must have crud in it, and your fuel sending unit either doesn't have a filter sock on it, or it has been eroded to the point of letting garbage thru.   Just my thoughts.   :2cents:

Year One sells repro fuel lines. If this car has been off the road for years, a new fuel pump isn't a bad idea. The rubber diaphragm might be dry rotten.

tank etc has been changed out. i just got car running it seems to have taken a long time for gas to prime to fuel filter. fuel pump is about 3 years old with only a couple of hours run time. ill start it a gain next week and see what happens, thanks
