:o Wow, 3/4" is waaaay too much movement! You will need to replace those for sure, I wouldn't bother with all the measuring, you have some worn parts there. There aren't actually any spacers between the bushings, I've attached a picture and hope this will explain it. Looking at the picture, the right side is the side that goes through the K frame and where the bushings are located. One large washer butts up against the shoulder on the inside, then the inside bushing goes on, next it goes through the K frame then the outside bushing goes on, then the outside washer then finally the nut. They are tightened and the bushings are actually sandwiching the K frame between them. The distance from where the washers meet the stop on the strut on each side determine the amount of crush that is applied on the bushings. In other words if the washer has punched through or worn though the shoulder area, there is nothing to stop the movement any longer and it would be able to move more than it should. Have you looked up inside the K frame with a mirror or something to see how the inside bushing and washer look? That's a likely spot to check but regardless, you will need to rebuild some of these items including the control arm bushings. Can you get some pics of your car, we all love pictures here and I am surprised as hell no one else has checked in for a warm welcome!  dontknow Ususally any newbies are bombarded with welcome messages! I believe they saw you mention my name and are just respectfully keeping out of the conversation. I say the more the marrier! We are a bunch of Mopar lovers for sure, please post often and ask away!! We'd love to see pictures of your car if you can get them.  thumbs

something fishy going on with my strut rods, a previous owner must have tried to "fix" it. At least now I know where my problems are starting. There is definatley a spacer between my two washers, I had it out the other day. If I remove it the washers will be able to "float" along the strut rod and compress the bushes with nothing to limit the amount that the bushes are compressed. Is that right? Ok(duh) now i understand, the spacer has been put there because the washers are punched through. Thanks man, you have saved me loads of time trying to puzzle this one out. I will rebuild that front end next weekend and let you know how it pans out. Here's a pic of my car, she's got a 383, had to get it from a fork lift (running on natural gas). The car has been built from a wrecked 440 r/t, and a 318 that I used for the body, so I have got all the R/T goodies, no numbers though all papers are lost. I have heard of only one other chally here, there are a few chargers though, and I have come across one satalite. My previous car was a Valiant Charger, Same as your dart, But a right hand drive. I am looking for D-O-D-G-E badges for my bonnet, R/T badges , and 383magnum badge for the bonnet, if you know of any lying around or for sale, pls put me in touch, no chance of finding them here.
