« on: July 02, 2010 - 08:33:25 AM »
Hi Guys still mucking around with getting my new [1974  360 ] Cuda running well, I can feel its not running right and now I have discovered the vacuum advance is stuffed. I sucked on it and nothing happend, even blew into it.. Pfft! knackered.. :banghead:
So are these replaceable? Can you still by new dizzys? what should I look for and or how do I fix

Cheers, Rob.

I just replaced the vacuum advance on my 318. I got it through Pep Boys for about 30 bucks. It wasn't too difficult to replace and only needed a couple of screwdrivers to do it.

in most cases I have found the engine to run better without out it connected , you can insert an allen wrench into the hose nipple & turn it counterclockwise , this may allow it to work again if someone like me has bee in there & dialed it out so it cannot work

Chryco what size allen wrench [just so I can try see if it works ? If you think its better i'll disconnect then, could you explain why and perhaps give me the timing settings you would recommend. I am running 91 in it.

Cheers

Yep.. I timed the engine to 10 degrees reset the idle mixtue and its starting to come good . had so many vacuum leaks pfft!. I can still feel the motor is way below what it should be.
