My wife is really getting into going car hunting on the weekend which is pretty cool. On Saturday night we went to a cruise night type deal in the town center of the next town over. We met a guy there that's selling his 73 Challenger for pretty cheap, so I'm seriously thinking of grabbing that. It's an auto with AC, so the wife can drive that and I can take the Cuda when we go to shows. It's drivable and doesn't need any work to get on the road, so I can concentrate on the Cuda for the next little while and it's yellow, so it will make a nice addition to the Go Mango and Lime Light.
Yesterday we stopped at a dealership that had a bunch of old stuff to see if they had/knew of any Cudas or Challengers that were available. The had a Pantera a 57 T Bird, Comet, old Galaxie and quite a few other toys and they knew of a 70 Cuda that was getting rebuilt but the guy ran out of funds. Since it sounded like a potential car/parts score we went to take a look. The guy has all the parts sitting for it including a new pistol grip shifter, 340, fiberglass front bumper and everything else you need to put it together. It has a new floor and trunk, new quarters and a flat hood with a non functioning shaker stuck on top. He bought if for 22k and he's asking 35k for it as is including all the parts which sounds way high to me, but I'm not too familiar with Mopar stuff yet. He showed me the breakdown of the fender tag and it turns out it started life as a plain Lime Light Barracuda with a 318 and a three speed. I have no interest in getting it because his bodywork left a lot to be desired and I would have to start all over with most of it. I could see spending 35k if it was an AAR or something special, but not for a Barracuda that's in the middle of reconstruction. The guy also had the arrogance to tell me that 10k for mine was too much because it was a 72 and it was worthless even thought so much work was done to it before I got it.
Next weekend we'll be off on another hunt.
