4 speed leak

 i have tranny fluid slowly dripping from my 833 tranny. it is comming from were  the reverse  lever bolts up. its a small drip but constant.any ideas or does 4 speed have to be taken apart,thanks

if it is a normal 4 speed not an od the first part to install is the reverse lever with an O ring on the shaft so basically you wouild need to tear down the whole trans , if it is an OD there is a nylon ring behind the shift lever , pop that out & the O ring can be changed without taking anything apart

CP, Are the 1/2 and 3/4 shafts set up the same as the rev on the OD? I have an "ooze" on my 3/4 shaft lever o ring on my 833OD. Can it too be changed from the outside or will I, at a minimum, have to pull the cover plate?? Thx, Bob

 You can swap the O ring from the outside as with the reverse on the OD units

Cp, Thx, since I blew a head gasket at Bonn 100 race I am pulling both heads for some cnc porting and obviously need to move the header so it will be easy to get to. Bob

Well the silver lining is that in Sept I was gonna pull them for some cnc porting by Huhes Engines. It'll just happen 3 mos early.... Besides I traped at 185.6 and that was all we had so its time to upgrade for Silver State.

On the up side, they are remarkably simple inside. Get a 12" long piece of 3/4" EMT, it'll make the roller bearings easy to do.  :2cents:
