Spinning inner tierod end
« on: July 07, 2010 - 01:05:22 PM »
Cant seem to win for loosing. :swear: Was one nut away from putting the chally back together from having the oil pan off and the drivers inner tie rod wont tighten. I think the ball is just spinning inside, the threads look fine. Now I cant get it tight enough or get the nut off. :pullinghair:
Anyone else run into this and know how to get it off short of a torch.  and if nothing else thanks for letting me rant and vent.

Try squeezing the tie rod down against the steering knuckle.  That might put enough friction on the ball so you can take the nut off.  That happens a lot.

I have used a jack and a piece of wood to put some pressure on the tie rod into the taper to keep it from spinning?

That can happen especially if the taper on the tie rod or the tapered hole are not totally clean. brads70 is what I have done in a couple of extreme cases.   :2thumbs:
