My old challengers in Australia
« on: July 12, 2010 - 06:52:06 PM »
Hey mates,
Here are a couple of pics of two of the four challengers I have owned in Australia, the red car was a 440 six pac car with a shaker hood(removed by the subsequent owner as you can see in the pic) It had the T-bar on the floor too. The blue car was an original 383 SE car non RT but with T-bar and overhead console, cloth inserts, the rallye 500's were ford units and I put 15in rallyes on after this pic.

This the first time I've seen a pic of a right hand drive Challenger. Very cool!

Ok here goes, these arent ebody but I hope you find them interesting, the yellow dodge dart coupe is one of less than ten in Australia and I owned that one for over thirteen years, I sold it to finance my trip to the states and buy a few things, and one day before I jumped on the plane the aussie dollar went form 92cents against the US dollar down to 75cents, ugh, that hurt! its back up a bit now but still, it cut into my funds. (Seems to jump from one day to the next, grrr) As for the 63 white imperial, nice clean unrestored car. Oh yeah the sills and rear wheel arches plus some of the trunk was rusted out on the yellow car so i had to cut it all out then hand beat new sheet metal for the wheel arches, the sills were easier, I got a new set folded up and welded them in, the trunk was easy too. mostly flat metal with just some strengthening grooves to replicate. The canary yellow I originally painted it in was a whole lot better than the baby **** cream in arrived in.

Love the Dart! My grandparents had a 60 Dart 4 door when I was younger.

The Dodge Phoenix's of 1960 were sold in Australia in RHD form from new, but they were all poly 318 automatic sedans, no coupes or wagons at all let alone convertibles. By the way, did I mention I also own a World War Spitfire fighter plane in pieces? Hmm, if I posted a few pics of that it might be pushing the envelope huh?

The blue Challenger sure has some HUGE bumper guards on it.  I'll bet those are long gone.

Yeah they didn't last long at all, mind you they didn't go far, I threw them as hard as I could to get rid of them but they landed three feet from me, yup huge mothers ;) In retrospect, I think the front bumper bar came off a 74 challenger?
