Is this an ebay scam??
« on: July 10, 2010 - 09:26:47 PM »
Looking through ebay I came across this Cuda. What baffles me is that I have seen this same exact car listed several times over the last few years with the same exact description. Futher more I remember the car listed somewhere on the west coast.(California I think) Now the car is listed in S.C. and the member only has one feedback. I emailed him with the same concerns and being close to where I live I asked to see the car in person. This sound fishy to anyone else??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150464617127&_trksid=p2759.l1259

More than likely a scam.  If not it’s a great price for the car.

What scares me even more if it is a scam, it's that the scammers are getting better at disguising their scams.

It's a scam.    :grinyes:

If it was legit he would have a "buy it now" for $18,000. Instead you have to contact him...RED flag.

The lack of feedbacks doesn't help either.

My first issue..as was stated before is the lack of feedback. Good feedback is important on EBAY, so to make a purchase this size with only 1 feedback...NAH.....

The comment "I will release it for $18,000." makes me think this guy doesn't realize that with no reserve he's obligated to sell the car for whatever the highest bid is at close of auction.  Dollars to doughnuts if the car doesn't reach that high he'll never agree to turn loose of the car....  Some people have no clue how to do business on the internet or anywhere else for that matter.

Both the seller and the member who gave him his 1 feedback both joined the same day June 28th and both have 1 feedback-very suspicious!

He only has two pictures of the car which is often an indicator of a scam listing. Maybe ask the seller if he can provide more pictures including one that may be of something very specific to see if he actually owns the car or not -- he can't get a specific picture if he doesn't own the car.

Anybody who puts a car on EBAY with only 2 pics--both of the same side--and expects people to pay thousands of dollars for it site unseen is nuts or scamming----and like I said--It looks like a scam. But he has people bidding which is even funnier...or sadder...I don't know which.....

I sent this guy a question about seeing the car in person over 24 hours ago and no responce. I went ahead and reported him to ebay. If I'm wrong then oh well...
