Backspacing on Aftermarket Mopar Rallye Wheels
« on: October 23, 2004 - 12:10:28 PM »
Anyone know what the standard backspacing is on aftermarket ralleys for Mopars....both 15x8 and 15x7? I've be told it's 4.5" but I haven't verified that.

4-5" Is correct.  ;)

Where are you getting yours from? I'll probably be buying a 15X8" set for my Challenger to have as a secondary choice, 1st being cop rims.  ;D Be interested yo know where your going to get them from.

NZ,
Summit racing, and Jegs sell the bare Rally wheels. The problem there is finding the center caps and trim rings for them :P I see Year One sells the whole set of wheels with the caps and trim rings, but you'll have to give up your first born to buy them :o

I'm not sure what wheel I'll be going with. I currently have 15x7 Rallys all the way around with F60/15....that's my show set up. I want to get another set of wheels with drag radials for fun. Thinking about 275/60/15's on 15x8's for the rear and 235/60/15's  on 15x7's for the front. I need to make sure the rears will fit with no issues first...I think 4.25" - 4.5" backspacing  will work the best. I may go with American Racing Salt Flats.

Thanks MEK. I have had a look at Yearone, being my main supplier but they only have stock sizess, no 15x8's.  :(

Stockton wheels is where I got my cop rims from and I'll never use them again. EVER. They mucked me around, no emails had to call them, sent 3 of the tires then the last one a week later.....AHHHHHHH!!  >:(

I'll try either vintiques or Nostalgia.  8)

I think you might be right Popeye. I ordered my rims from Jegs, and they came in boxes that said Wheel Vintiques.

I also believe that both the 15X7, and 15X8 rims have 4.5 inch back spacing.

Wheel Vintique's 15x7 rallyes are 4.25" and their 15x8 rallyes are 4.5". Now that we've figured that out, should I use 4.25" or 4.5" backspacing on a 15x8 if I want to fit some 275/60/15's on the rear. When I checked and measured it looked like the 4.25" BS would allow about 3/8" from tire to leaf spring. That means the 4.5" puts the tire pretty darn close to the spring. As far as the quarter lip goes, it doesn/t look like a problem with either one (4.25 or 4.5). It would be nice to get as much room as possible there however. I'd like to hear from some people that have actually tried this same setup on their Cuda (stock rearend).

Here is a link for some ralleys, looks like a pretty good deal. It would be nice to know of someone who has purchsed from this site just to see how the quality is.

Great link Plum, I'll buy from them when I buy my set. It's going to be hard driving a white car with cop rims on with only them stopping the full Vanishing Point look. LOL!! I just want to see what the black cop rims will look like first but I will try eastwoods, the prices seem fair. I didn't want to be a vanishing point looking car, but it doesn't make it any easier!! LMAO!!  ;D

Cheers bud.  ;)
