Starting Problem

When I turn the key, I get a loud knock: metal on metal.  Then the starter struggles to turn the engine over.  It is a mini starter on a 360ci.  I've never experienced this before.

See if the starter is loose, and also see if the converter flex plate bolts are tight. If one backed out It will make you think you spun a bearing

i would check the starter,,sounds like it is the problem,,that knock your talking about,is it just turn the key on ? not cranking?,,see if you can tell its the starter making the noise,,it shouldn't make a noise just turning the key to the start position

is the battery low on power or poor conections + or ground

Went to check the battery and checked the plug/distributor wires.  Find three loose distributor wire.   :screwy:Starts just fine again.  Thanks guys!
