to rebuild or not to rebuild...

that is the question.

My 727 works fine.  Stong shifts at full throtle, no noticible slippage in any gear or shifts, but it leaks from what appears to be several spots.  Not sure where exactly.

The trans is from a 1980 NY, and does not appear to have ever been apart, or had the fluid or filter changed.  I do not think the trans needs to be rebuilt...but maybe it does.  I need to change the torq converter eventually, but not sure when that will happen, so it will have to come out eventually.

Is it possible to replace all of the seals that may be leaking without removing the trans from the car?

What should i look for?

The most likely suspects are the dipstick tube, the coolant lines and the pan. They can all be fixed with the tranny in place. If your front pump seal is leaking you obviously have to remove the tranny to get to it. Clean it off real good and find where it's leaking.

 Shifter shaft seal most likely leaking too!  :wavingflag:
