Engine Install
« on: August 04, 2010 - 10:35:57 AM »
Hey guys I have a 340 that I'm finishing up for my 71 Challenger Convertible and a new set of TTI headers.  I have everything out of the engine bay.  I mean everything except for the K-member.  My question is can I install the engine from the top with the headers on?  If not what is the best way?  I would hate to ruin these beautiful headers.  Thanks

Also what kind of header bolts do you guys like stainless, chrome, locking, non locking.  I'm thinking of these:

Your thoughts...

No it will not install from the top so you have 2 choices you can install from the top but you will need a few hands to hold the headers out of the way while you slide the egine into place or the way I would do it is to drop the K frame down , put everything onto the engine lower the body over the K frame & engine ,that way everything headers , starter fan , pulleys etc can all be bolted on & you will scratch nothing installing it .
