"switchable" ign. coil - any good?
« on: August 13, 2011 - 08:11:12 PM »
So I came across this Accel "switchable" coil for street/high performance...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACCEL-140025-AFTERBURNER-SWITCHABLE-IGNITION-COIL-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2a12b26c17QQitemZ180702309399QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I've never seen anything like this and was just curious what the thought was on this one?

Just curious

Not much magic in coils...either you have enuf spark to overcome cylinder pressure and jump the gap, or you don't

Just a marketing ploy then

I agree , once the spark will jump the gap more power is not big help , it may stop plugs from misfiring under poor conditions, old plugs or poor fuel  but when things are good you would not feel a difference , same basic idea with MSD , fi the plug doesn't light up the fuel on the first try it might get it the second time but you usually have other problems !!
