4 speed shaft movement
« on: June 17, 2013 - 10:55:15 PM »
Heres a good one. Brewers just built me a 4 speed, 309 1st gear. The input shaft will only rotate about 30 degrees and clunk to a stop. Back and forth. N/R lever shifts good ,but all shafts are imoveable.1/2 and 3/4 wont shift fully maybe  1st at times. And any movement of input is matched by output shaft at all times. Trans is on a trans jack out of car. Brewers tech is kinda stumped, never heard of this before, but hes shipping me a output yolk to see if I can free it up. Anyone here experienced this?

It sound like the syrnco ring is just stuck. Try holding the tailshaft with the drive shaft and put the clutch disc on the input shaft and rock it back and forth to see if it breaks loose. Make sure its in neutral and you have oil in it. If not pull the side cover off. Maybe the shift fork wasn't in right.

Sounds good, Rich, I'll try it.
