The bare 426 Hemi motor is more than $15K. Add a BB trans, accessories, etc. and you're talking more like $30K. And that wouldn't have gotten me to my goal, which was a computer-controlled, fuel-injected, trouble-free motor.
My first choice was a 5.7 Hemi but Bouchillon's quote for the motor, computer, accessories and everything to install it was about $15K, and the total would have been more like $20K installed, so that was out.
The Six Pack EFI ended up being the most cost-efficient way to get the trouble-free, reliable motor that I was looking for. Since the fuel tank/pump were changed the car has been such a pleasure to drive, with fast, reliable starts, instant throttle response, no bogs, etc. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Plus it looks cool. And if you can install it yourself (I can't) it ends up being more like $6000.
