1970 Challenger window sticker
« on: August 22, 2010 - 12:52:04 AM »
I recently purchased a 1970 challenger and would like to get a window sticker for it. I like seeing window stickers on other cars when I go to cruises to see what is on the car and what the options cost so I would like to do the same for mine. I have some questions about what should be on the sticker. I am new at this hobby so bear with me if some of my questions would seem to have an obvious answer to you. I am trying to learn about these cars and have learned a lot from this website.

It is a numbers matching car. I don't have any history of the car except for the fender tag. The car has been painted dark blue with a black vinyl top and has magnum 500 wheels. The two barrel carb has been replaced with an aftermarket 4-barrel but other than that, the engine compartment looks pretty original. It has a power bulge hood (RT style hood) The inside of the engine compartment and trunk is still the original color and it looks like it would be an very striking color combination. It still retains the blue interior.

Here is the fender tag and I have NO build sheet:

R22 V1G V7W 26 END
G33 H51 L31 M21 N95 P31
V1G A01 B51 C16 C55 G31
EB7 H6B5 000 930 036444
E61 D32 JH23 LOE xxxxxx

So  I know the following:

R22  - AM with 8-track
V1G - Black gator grain top
V7W - White accent stripe
 26 - 26 inch radiator
END - end of codes
G33  - Chrome left hand outside mirror
H51 - Air conditioning
L31 - Fender mount turn signals
M21 - Roof drip rail moldings
N95 - Exhaust emission control
P31 - Power windows
V1G  - Black gator grain roof
A01  - Light package
B51 - Power brakes
C16 - Console
C55  - Bucket seats
G31  - Chrome right hand side outside mirror
EB7 - Medium blue metallic paint
H6B5  - High back bucket seats - medium blue
000 - full door panel ?
930 - build date
036444 - order number
E61 - 383, 2-barrel
D32 - automatic

In addition the car currently has the following options which I am not sure are original to the car

Front disc brakes
Power steering
Rear defrost
Belt molding
Front splash pan molding (not sure if this is the correct term, but the metal pan under the front bumper)
Wheel well molding
Front sway bar
3.23 axle ratio (as noted on the tag bolted to the differential on the axle)
RT style hood

Here are my questions:

1. What codes on the fender tag would be on the window sticker as options?
2. If the extra options I noted  were original to the car, would they have been on the fender tag or would they be on a build sheet?
3.  What, if any would be the option codes for the extra options?
4.  On the option lists I have found online, I see D34 as a transmission option not D32. What would be on the sticker?
5. What tires would have been on this car originally?

The car is not a show car but just a fun driver. I'm not trying to misrepresent what the car is to anyone, and am not sure if I want to just show what would have been on the car or what is now on the car on the window sticker.
I am looking at using window-sticker.com for the window sticker unless anyone has other suggestions.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Michael,

You're on the right track, I've never used window-sticker.com but I have friends that recommend them.  Have you've looked for you buildsheet?  I am not sure where your car was built but if it's never been a part you might get lucky and found under the driver's seat or behind the glove box.

Some code do not end up one the fender tag.  Tire size is one example, that would be on the build sheet or window sticker.  I know more people will chime in and give you more advice.

You Challenger surely has some nice options and the Gator Grain is truely very nice.  I also like the color combo!
