    Best place for a Tremec

    Can anyone point me to the cheapest place to get a Tremec TKO-600 conversion kit for a 71 Cuda?

    Talk to Tony at Classic Mopar 5 speed. "bigblue73" on here. I got a low mileage used one. It's made all the difference with 3:91's on the freeway!   R/T    Oh... and WELCOME to CC.c!!! :wave:

    Well by cheastest I don't mean junk either. Just want the best bang for my buck. Their are many places selling the conversion kits and I just asumed that they are all the same made by one company and sold by everyone?

    I agree! I bought a never-used Tremec 5-speed from an individual who bought it from Keisler, but later on I found out that it was actually 6 years old and the mechanics of it were outdated so I ended up sending it into Keisler for upgrades. In the end, I got a great transmission, but it cost me more than if I had just bought a brand new unit directly from Keisler in the first place.

    I would recommend going directly to Keisler to ensure you get what you want. They were really good about helping me out and standing behind their product.

    I have had the opposite experience , Every part I have bought from Keisler I have had problems with & shipping it back to them from here is rediculous cost . My experience is based on installs over the last 5 years ,from being lied to, to shipping incomplete assemblies & being charged shipping twice to send the missing parts , to having trans cases leak from machining problems . I simply cannot recommend them from my own personal experiences dealing with Keisler

    Keisler is dropping the Tremec line anyway arent they ?    Tremec is closing their US facility and they are going with a new trans supplier setup, according to an email from them I got a few weeks ago.   :clueless:

    I recall a thread here a few months back where folks were talking up Passon Performance and the fact that they were going to be introducing a new 5 speed based on their current OD 4 speed.  Anyone heard any more about that?  I've never heard anything bad about Passon so they sound like a good group to deal with.

    Actually, Tremec dropped Keisler back in January. They are no longer an authorized Tremec dealer.

    Tremec has 2 facilities in the U.S.. The main offices are in Michigan and they had a distribution center over in Knoxville TN. I believe the Knoxville facility is closing down due to the economy but the Michigan head quarters are still up and running.

    Tremec's are built in Mexico and with the closure of the Knoxville plant, Tremec will be direct shipping from the production facility in Mexico directly to the distributors.  :thumbsup:

    So what does "authorized" mean. I got a quote from Keisler on a TKO-600 a couple of weeks ago. So they must be selling them still.
