yet another newbie! "72 Barracuda"
« on: September 12, 2010 - 08:42:43 PM »
:icon16: Hi everyone just found this forum the other day.I will be picking up my 72 Barracuda tomorrow and I can`t wait.Hope to get it road worthy for next summer.A little background about me my first car I ever owned was a 70 AAR that I bought for $500.00 when I was 15 back in 1985.By the time I got it the car was primer grey and the red interior was sprayed black had a tired 72 duster 340 and bucket seats out of a 80 Ford Fiesta (BARF!)but hey it was still an AAR DAMMIT!Does this car sound familiar to anyone I always wondered what happened to that car. It was in the New Bedford Ma area in the mid 80`s.I never got it on the road and sold it to some other kid for $650.00 never knew what I had till it was gone.So I plan to correct that mistake of letting it go with this "72".Thats it for now and I`m sure I will be asking everyone for advice when I run into any problems so thanks in advance!

Looks like you just need some paint on that fish and your done.

That was a deal for $500.00 for your AAR.
I picked up my AAR Cuda in 1985 too but I paid too much.  I had to fork over $9,100.00

Yes it`s close to completion needs Paint, exhaust a few other things but as you can see from the photo I don`t have a garage yet. I`ve got the cart in front of the horse (AGAIN).I managed to put down a quick floor to keep moisture out from underneath.First thing I have to do is get one of those cover-all shelters and keep the New England winter off it.

Yeah $500 for the A.A.R was a steal if only I knew it then, but as a 15 year old kid with only a K-Mart socket set and not a clue about how to restore my first car I didn`t stand a chance! If I ever find a pic of the A.A.R I`ll post here, it looked exactly like my 72 does now.
