shifter hump
« on: September 17, 2010 - 07:11:36 PM »
my car was a column shift car now has a b&m shifter wich i hate. i have not used a shifter that i like except for the stock style. is my tranny hump the same as a console shift or would i have to find a donor car to cut the hump out of?

i would rather just get another shifter that uses a cable, is there an aftermarket shifter that just has the lock button on the knob? everyone ive seen don't work smooth or are a ratchet style or you need 2 hands for some operations.

My car was a column shift too. It also had a B&M shifter, LOL which I also hated! It was the first thing to go! No you don't need a different hump, only manual tranny's need the hump. You do need the brackets that weld on the floor for the shifter and the console.
I converted mine over to a stock slap stick shifter. I then bought a pistol grip shifter handle from member "Quapman" ( Steve) I love this set up! The brackets are available new , but you can often find them used as a 4 speed conversions are popular. My suggestion....use the shifter you have now and gather parts when you find them. There are always all the parts you will need on e-bay. But I'd start with a post in the parts wanted section? You won't regret going to the stock set up!

If interested, I will have the entire Slap stick Floor shift WITH brakets cut out of My car with a section Of floor where the boot goes for sale...Includeds EVERYTHING incudiing the little bracket on the trans tailshaft...Lemme know if interested. Converting to 4-speed and will not need. The "T" stock handle will need some repair though, but is included.
I'll even throw in the console as well....

Brads70 that pistol grip shifter looks like a "Gun Slinger" handle with the trigger.

No it's an Autogrip by CC.com member "Quapman" ( Steve ) I liked it better than gunslingers because it's on the proper angle when in first gear? To me anyway?
